vacation - day 1&2

SOOO we are on vacation again.  Upon first arrive at this cottage... we were somewhat disappointed. The cottage itself is on the old side.  Least the bedrooms and bathrooms are newer.  (they are working on fixing it up)  I think we were REALLY spoiled at that last place we rented.  ANYHOW - we are here and now day two is not so bad.  We are on Lake Muskoka and this is an awesome lake.  Great boating.  The outside of this cottage is so nice!  Below is a picture of the kids about to go tubing and the back ground is the cottage.  Nicely on the water.

So since the kitchen isn't really that equipped with a lot of cooking supplies and the stove/oven is really old... we will be eating out or having very simple meals here. 
Tonight we went to Port Carling for dinner to Turtle Jacks.  What a neat little town.  Below are some photos of "The Wall".  This wall photo is HUGE and is made up of small photos.  Maybe you will get the idea when you see the photos.

I forgot all about my tomato plant on the side of the house.  I just went to go see how dead it was - IT WASN'T!!!  It is big and thriving :0)  THEN deep in i saw something reddy/orange .... A TOMOTO!!!  I have a tomato!!  Saving it for dinner :0)

mini vacation up north

Friday, July 29th.

Friday we received two awesome phone calls.  First one was for an invitation to come up north with our boat.  The second one was that Jaci and B got the ok to head up to camp.  We said YES to both.  A very busy evening that Friday night.  Getting ready for our mini vacation away and packing up Jaci for two weeks of camp.

Saturday, July 30th.

We hit the road at 7:15 AM.
Smooth drive to OPC and dropped the girls off at camp. They will have a great two weeks.  I have heard from Jaci and she said it is AWESOME there.  So i think they are managing just fine.  At camp we had a little visit with some folks that are there all summer.  FV misses you guys!!!! But glad you are all doing so fine!

Launched the boat and enjoyed a wonderful long weekend full of fun, laughs, great chats and tasty food.  Even the drive home on a holiday Monday went smoothly! :0)

busy times

Well... when you get home from vacation there is always so much to do.  Unpack, clean up, laundry, reconnect with friends and family.  AND we have family in from Omaha Nebraska & Holland, and my niece stayed over for two nights.  we have been busy.
My niece is the funniest little lady ever!! (she is 3)  Because all these people are here - she was so busy entertaining us all.  Singing dutch songs, lots of hugs and cuddles, and just being a ham.  At night she went to bed with NO problems at all. (makes us miss our fostering days)  But when her parents returned from their trip she was happy to go home :0)
Our dutch company left on Sunday.  It was nice to visit with them again.  Might be another 5-10 years before we see them again.
Our Omaha family ... it has been a busy 4 days.  Lots of visiting, dinners out, shopping - fun times.  They leave for a mini vacation up north tomorrow. 
Remember my junk room --- ya i worked on it this week.... we now have a very nice spare bedroom.
So we have been busy... but things are good...

home sweet home

We packed and cleaned up the cottage and were out of there by 10:30.  We were so hot we decide to just go and trailer the boat and head for home.  Our original plan was to boat to Huntsville for lunch. 
We made it home by 1ish.  Hit a bit of traffic - but least we are home safe.  I don't care to drive with the boat.
We had a great week away.  A cottage i HIGHLY recommend you rent (But not till we have given them our week, ha ha) 
So nice to be home.

vacation - day 7

A place we hope to visit again next summer.  We had an awesome last full day here.  Yep tomorrow we head home.  Sad to leave this wonderful place but lots of memories have been made here... ones we will treasure forever.  Enjoy the photos of our last day.  Don't forget to click on the photos if you want to view them larger.
